The Speech and Language Program at Stepping Stone School is

Designed to meet the needs of students from various sending

districts. Students goal’s and objective’s are reviewed by the

Speech and Language Therapist and therapy is set into motion as

soon as possible.

Speech and Language session’s are generally “20” minutes in

length, two-times weekly, in an individual or small group ratio.

One “40” minute group language lesson is also incorporated to

Better serve the younger students at the Stepping Stone School.

This lesson is part of their required speech and language time.

The majority of the students receiving speech and language

services concentrate on the improvement of their expressive

language skills. Language processing, grammatical improvements,

and pragmatic (social) language development are primarily

addressed. Articulation remediation is also a main component to

this program.

The therapist remains in contact with the classroom teachers to

Incorporate curriculum-related activities as much as possible.

These frequent communications also assist the therapist with the

Awareness in any changes in the student’s behavior.
